Friday: Luau and snorkle

Aloha!
Today was our last day in paradise. Although it was the last day we enjoyed every second of it. We separated into color groups. One group went hiking at Diamond Head while the other group went snorkeling at Hanauma bay.
The hiking group met to go walk all the way to Diamond Head. We stopped at a little park to stretch- a represent from every country had to go in the middle of the circle and count on they countries language. After that we continued on to Diamond Head. When we got there we could pick if we wanted to run or walk it. The fastest runner today was 13 min. When everyone got to the top we took a group photo and then turned around. At the bottom of the trail we all bought shaved ice it was so nice to get something to cool our bodies down!

The snorkeling group was divided into a lot of smaller groups of 6 to 10 people. Each group got their own van and then we took off to Hanauma bay. Before going snorkeling we were waiting to watch a safety video and then it started to rain really hard. But luckily it only lasted for 10 minutes and the rest of the day the weather was perfect for snorkeling. While snorkeling we saw a lot of beautiful and different fish and a lot of us saw sea turtles too (not me thoughL). We had four hours to enjoy the beach that actually was formed by lava of a volcano which makes the conditions for sea lives perfect.

In the evening we went to Paradise Cove to enjoy a Luau, which is a Hawaiian party where you eat dinner while watching fire shows and hula dance. A lot of us participated in the hula dance on the stage and later Tomas (Brazil) and Jakob (Denmark) showed the whole crowd how to move their hips. The location of the Paradise Cove was absolutely amazing! A lot of pictures were taken there. Also the food was amazing, dinner was a pig that had been roasted in the sand on the beach for 8-9 hours, it was very delicious!! But the party didn’t end there, both buses had their own parties with loud music, crazy dancing and everybody singing along.
A perfect day to end this awesome week that we all will remember forever because we have become Ohana.

Thursday: Pearl Harbor

Aloha everybody,

Hawaii stole my heart.. again! This wonderful island is way too beautiful. I absolutely love it!! Today we went to Pearl Harbor! This was amazing!! It’s very sad when you are there but the meaning is so wonderful. First we visited the USS Missouri where we did volunteer work. We helped clean the deck. It was fun, and we had a chance to see the ship! After that we did a tour of the battleship which was very interesting. The guide was wonderful, he explained everything with passion making it very interesting. After that we went to the USS Arizona Memorial. First we watched a movie which was very very interesting and it kinda touched me. I didn’t know that much abut Pearl Harbor and in the video they explained it all very clearly. I absolutely loved it. After that we sat on a ship and went to the actual memorial. That was so impressive. We saw a big white wall with all the names of those that passed away, we saw the other boats… it was just amazing! I am so glad we did it! Normally I don’t really like museums or memorials but this was just amazing. I think it’s because of the meaning and it touched me! After that we had free time and I had another chance to discover this wonderful island. I am in love with Hawaii and would recommend it to everybody!

Wednesday: Hiking and Bubba Gump!

Today we woke up a little late, but very excited about what we were going to do: hike Diamond Head, which is an inactive volcano that allows a great view from the top. We headed there by foot, and when we started some of us were so excited so we started running up, trying to break ‘the belo record’…it was impossible in my opinion, the guy who established it must be a deer or something. We got to the top after some minutes, all sweaty but pretty satisfied, and the view from the top was so awesome, that I feel it was totally worth it.
Then we got back, and got some amazing shave ice at the bottom of the hill. We chilled out for about half an hour, and after that we went back to the bus, that took us back to the hotel. It was a pretty tiring morning, but definitely a good experience and everybody took a lot of great pictures!
In the afternoon, we had some free time- most of us spent it on the beach in Waikiki, and it was very relaxing. At a certain point, it started raining, and it was quite surprising, since the sun was shining and we did not expect to see that. We decided to head back to the hotel, and went to the swimming pool. We spent the rest chilling out there or in the hot tub, and then we started getting ready to leave.
After a short ride on the bus, we got to the shopping mall, that was huge and all outdoor, so pretty cool. We went to eat into an amazing place where apparently they loved Forrest Gump, and we all ate some shrimps or pasta or chicken. After the cake, we went shopping, all divided in small groups, and it seems to me the main purpose was to get selfies in any shop we could (Louis Vuitton, Armani, Abercrombie and many more), but we also shopped a little bit, and actually there were many cool shops. We met up again and left to get back to the hotel, where we got some pretty nice t-shirts with all our names written on them. The day was awesome, and we feel so tired we will sleep all night. #lololol #yolo
